Songs of Heart

"Springs of Life" by Chidi Okoye

"Springs of Life"

We are the visible Mother Earth.
We have the magical powers.
Enriched with warm and loving hearts,
sometimes too tender and fragile to be handled
by the lost of this world.
We are sources of all knowledge and the pillars of nations.
Springs of life.
Places of solace.
Comfort of the afflicted.
Our smiles are the diamond sparks in hearts of the nobles.
Our pains are tears of heroes of our land.
Our joy is the shining light in dark tunnels of life.
Our sorrows are the turbulent thunder in the face of Earth.
Springs of life.
Places of solace.
Comfort of the afflicted.
We refuse to fight to be who we are.
We refuse to be seen as those who abuse the crown of womanhood.
We refuse to fight for equality and control because;
We are the centers of control and no sane person fights the battle ground.
We refuse to change our names to become who they want us to be.
We refused to give up our bowls of life.
Springs of life.
Places of solace.
Comfort of the afflicted.
We are the rising and setting of the sun.
We are the moons in full bloom.
We are the sweet and gentle breezes on hot summer days.
We are the hands of the potter and no vessel can be stronger.
We have fed the rich and poor,
big and small to keep the wheels of life turning.
We are your springs of life.
